Month conventions and sources
Calculated Kerala solar dates using the historical three-fifths daylight cutoff, Kollam era and Chingam year boundary. Vakyam and complete Kerala festival/vrata rules are not included.
Amanta: Ashvina. Purnimanta: Ashvina.
The Malabar three-fifths daylight rule comes from Sewell & Dikshit, The Indian Calendar, printed page 12, section 28. The astronomical positions use our approximate Lahiri model. Dates near a rule cutoff are withheld for review; the ten-minute review margin is not a certified error bound. Calendar-specific annual festival rules remain separate.
Calculation methods and validation →Questions about this Panchang
Why do Hindi and Marathi month names differ?
The Purnimanta month ends at the full moon, while the Amanta month ends at the new moon. During the dark fortnight the month names can differ. The tithi interval itself remains the same.
Does choosing a calendar confirm every festival and fasting date?
Calculated Kerala solar dates using the historical three-fifths daylight cutoff, Kollam era and Chingam year boundary. Vakyam and complete Kerala festival/vrata rules are not included.
Why can the time change when I choose another place?
Local coordinates determine sunrise, sunset and daily divisions. Tithi transitions are astronomical instants; their clock display follows the selected timezone.
