Kalash Sthapana muhurat: which timing should you follow?

Separate Pratipada, the eligible Ghatasthapana window and an optional preferred window before arranging your Navratri puja.

A tithi interval is not the complete muhurat

Kalash Sthapana, also called Ghatasthapana, begins the Navratri worship in many households. A page may show Pratipada, sunrise, an eligible puja period and an optional preferred period. These labels answer different questions.

Pratipada describes a lunar interval. The ritual selection applies further conditions to that interval. A preferred lagna, when offered, is an additional selection within an eligible period. Reading the largest printed time range as the ritual window can therefore produce the wrong plan.

Use a clear order

First set your location and year. Next identify the window explicitly labelled for Ghatasthapana. Read the tradition and any caution attached to it. Finally, check whether a narrower preferred window is available and practical for your household.

PanchangSaathi keeps these choices separate. Where the documented rule encounters a skipped tithi, an exceptional short overlap or an unresolved boundary, it should not replace the missing decision with a reassuring green label. A priest needs the actual condition, rather than an unexplained verdict.

Make the plan usable for everyone

Write one appointment time for the household and share the complete location-specific result. Prepare the kalash and the items your own tradition uses before the selected window begins. Follow the procedure taught by your family or officiating priest; this reading guide is not an initiation into a new ritual method.

If two almanacs disagree, compare the same place, date, calculation method and ritual profile first. A city mismatch or a preferred-window label can explain a difference without implying that either entire calendar is wrong. Keep the source and review note with your plan so that the decision remains understandable later.
